Apple Pauses AI News Alerts After False Reports
Apple has temporarily paused its AI-powered notification summaries for news and entertainment apps following backlash over false alerts. The company is reworking the feature for greater accuracy and transparency, introducing notable changes with its latest developer previews.
Feature Disabled for News & Entertainment Apps: In iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3 developer previews, and notification summaries for these apps are turned off. Apple plans to refine and reintroduce them in a future update.
Improved Notification Design: Notification summaries will now appear in italics, distinguishing them from standard alerts. Users can also disable summaries for specific apps directly from their Lock Screen.
Beta Feature Labeling: Apple will notify users that the notification summaries feature is still in beta and may generate errors, with a disclaimer in the Settings app.
Response to False Alerts: The pause follows incidents like a misrepresented BBC article, where Apple’s AI incorrectly summarized a story involving a high-profile legal case.
These changes reflect Apple's commitment to improving user trust and transparency in its AI-driven features. While the public beta rolls out next week, there’s no confirmed release date for iOS 18.3.

Nvidia Unveils Tools to Boost Enterprise AI Adoption with Enhanced Safety
Nvidia is rolling out three new NIM microservices designed to make AI agents safer and more reliable for enterprises. These additions aim to address concerns about security and control, encouraging businesses to embrace AI technology with greater confidence.
Content Safety and Topic Control: One service prevents harmful or biased outputs, while another ensures conversations remain focused on approved topics.
Enhanced Security: A third service guards against jailbreak attempts that bypass software restrictions.
Part of NeMo Guardrails: These tools expand Nvidia’s existing open-source NeMo Guardrails, designed to help companies secure and optimize AI applications.
Enterprise AI Adoption Trends:
Deloitte reports that 25% of enterprises are using or planning to use AI agents in 2025, and adoption is expected to reach 50% by 2027.
Nvidia’s efforts aim to bridge the gap between rapid AI innovation and the slower pace of enterprise adoption.
Nvidia’s new tools underscore the importance of safety and reliability in AI adoption. As enterprises weigh the benefits of AI agents, these measures could make the technology feel less experimental and more secure.
TSMC Reports Record Profit, Predicts Strong 2025 Growth Amid U.S. Export Curbs
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has posted a record-breaking quarterly profit, driven by rising demand for AI chips. Despite U.S. export restrictions on AI technology to China, TSMC expects robust revenue growth in early 2025.
Record Profit: TSMC's Q4 profit soared 57%, reaching an all-time high. The company forecasts Q1 2025 revenue between $25 billion and $25.8 billion.
Managing Export Curbs: U.S. AI chip restrictions on China pose challenges, but TSMC CEO C.C. Wei considers them manageable and is seeking special permits for affected clients.
U.S. Relations: TSMC emphasizes open communication with the current and incoming U.S. administrations, addressing technology export policies.
Global Demand Growth: AI chip demand continues to drive TSMC’s business, with strong momentum anticipated in the first quarter of 2025.
TSMC’s record profit and optimistic revenue projections highlight its resilience in navigating geopolitical challenges. With AI chip demand surging, the company remains confident in overcoming export restrictions while maintaining strong growth.
Google Raises Workspace Prices, Unlocks AI Features for Free
Google has revamped its Workspace pricing, making AI features like email summaries and Gemini bot access available to all users without extra charges. However, this comes with a slight price increase in monthly subscription rates.
AI Tools Included for Free: Features like automated note-taking, email summaries, and Gemini bot access are now included in the standard Workspace plan at no additional cost.
Pricing Update: The Workspace Business Standard plan increases from $12 to $14 per user per month. Small business customers are currently exempt.
Effective Dates: New customers face the updated pricing immediately, while existing customers see changes starting March 17, 2025.
Transition for Existing Add-Ons: Gemini for Workspace add-on subscribers won’t be charged after January 31, as its features are now part of the standard plan.
This move positions Google to compete with Microsoft’s AI-integrated 365 subscription. By bundling AI capabilities into its standard offering, Google simplifies access while reshaping the pricing landscape for enterprise productivity tools.
