🇨🇳 China May Investigate Intel for Antitrust Violations

According to the Financial Times, China is reportedly considering launching an antitrust investigation into Intel. This potential probe comes amid growing trade tensions between China and the U.S., following new U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports. The move suggests China may be increasing regulatory scrutiny on major American tech firms.

  • Intel Under Scrutiny – Chinese regulators may investigate Intel for potential violations of the country’s anti-monopoly laws, adding to the broader trade dispute.

  • Significant Market Exposure – China remains Intel’s largest market, accounting for 29% of its global revenue ($15.5 billion) last year, with key testing and assembly operations in the region.

  • Wider Regulatory Actions – In December, China also reopened a long-dormant antitrust investigation into Google, just before President Trump’s inauguration, signaling a pattern of regulatory pushback against U.S. tech companies.

  • Ongoing Trade Disputes – This comes shortly after China imposed its own set of tariffs in response to U.S. measures, underscoring the economic and political complexities between the two countries.

Intel has yet to comment on the potential investigation. If the probe proceeds, it could have significant implications for the semiconductor industry and U.S.-China trade relations.

🚀 AMD Fast-Tracks Next-Gen Data Center GPUs

AMD is accelerating the launch of its Instinct MI350 series data center GPUs, moving production shipments up to mid-2025 due to stronger-than-expected development and rising customer demand.

  • Early Rollout – Originally set for release in the second half of 2025, the MI350 series will now begin sampling with key customers this quarter, with full production ramping up by mid-year.

  • Competitive Positioning – AMD’s CEO Lisa Su highlighted that the faster bring-up of MI350 improves AMD’s competitiveness in the AI compute space, where it faces stiff competition from Nvidia.

  • Growing Market Share – While AMD’s data center revenue is still significantly behind Nvidia’s, it has been gaining traction with major customers like Meta, Microsoft, and IBM, helping drive a $5 billion revenue milestone for its Instinct GPUs in 2024.

  • AI Boom Driving Demand – AMD expects double-digit growth in its data center segment in 2025, with Su emphasizing that demand for AI computing remains strong. She also noted that AMD’s data center business could grow into the tens of billions over the next few years.

  • Positive Investor Sentiment – Following the earnings announcement, AMD’s stock climbed 4.58%, signaling confidence in its ability to compete in the evolving AI and high-performance computing markets.

As AI workloads continue to expand, AMD’s decision to accelerate the MI350 launch reflects its strategy to capture a larger share of the booming data center GPU market.

🍎 Apple Unveils AI-Powered Party Planner: Meet 'Invites'

Apple has just launched its first AI-powered standalone app, Invites, which revolutionizes event planning by seamlessly integrating AI with multiple Apple services.

  • AI-Generated Invitations: The app leverages Apple Intelligence to create custom images and text for invitations through its Image Playground and Writing Tools.

  • All-in-One Event Portal: Integrates Photos, Music, Maps, and Weather, giving users a centralized hub for event planning and management.

  • Inclusive for All: Unlike most Apple services, Invites allows non-Apple users to RSVP and share photos, expanding its reach.

  • Shifting AI Strategy: Free to download, this app marks Apple’s first AI-powered standalone app, indicating a strategic pivot towards AI-driven, practical applications.

Apple is taking a more focused and practical approach to AI, embedding it into specialized apps rather than chasing powerful models like its competitors. While Apple Intelligence had a rocky start, this app showcases its potential to improve through iterations, with Invites offering a streamlined, user-friendly event planning experience.
